Denise I. Murphy Elected President of Massachusetts Bar Association

Boston, MA (Sept. 2020) Denise Murphy, Partner and co-chair of the Labor and Employment department at Boston-based law firm, Rubin and Rudman LLP, was recently appointed president of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) for 2020-21 association year.

“I am honored to be elected President of the MBA and in this role I plan to emphasize the importance of diversity in our profession and give voices to marginalized groups. My primary focus will be working to bridge the gap among the various voices in our industry,” said Murphy.

In addition to serving as president of the MBA, Denise is Co-Chair of SJC Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being, which is responsible for planning and overseeing efforts to enhance the well-being of lawyers, judges and law students in Massachusetts.

Murphy’s practice is focused on counseling regional and national businesses on a variety of employment law-related issues including, sexual harassment and discrimination and wage and hour claims. She conducts independent investigations into workplace discrimination and harassment claims, and drafts a variety of employment contracts, severance agreements, handbooks and policy statements.

The other 2020-21 MBA officers include President-elect Thomas M. Bond, Vice President Grace V.B. Garcia, Treasurer Damian J. Turco and Secretary Victoria Santoro Mair. Martin W. Healy is the MBA’s chief legal counsel and chief operating officer.
